TECNALIA Corporación Tecnológica ha convocado su V Premio de Periodismo, bajo el lema “Innovar es construir el Futuro”, con una dotación económica total de 15.000 euros. El plazo para presentar los trabajos finaliza el viernes 10 de septiembre de 2010.

El objetivo de este galardón es incentivar el trabajo de los profesionales de los medios de comunicación (prensa, radio, televisión e internet) que promuevan y divulguen el conocimiento de la investigación, la innovación y el desarrollo tecnológico entre la opinión pública.

El premio está dirigido a los profesionales de la comunicación que hayan publicado, emitido o difundido trabajos periodísticos firmados con su propio nombre o seudónimo, realizados de forma individual o en equipo y en cualquier modalidad periodística, incluyendo trabajos escritos y los emitidos en radio, en
televisión y en Internet.

Die Universität zu Köln ist ab sofort Mitglied im Forschungsnetzwerk SiROP. Die mit mehr als 40.000 Studierenden zweitgrößte Hochschule des bevölkerungsreichsten Bundeslandes Nordrhein-Westfalen will damit noch internationaler und interdisziplinärer werden.

Die SiROP Association hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die akademische Forschung und den Technologietransfer an international renommierten Forschungseinrichtungen und Universitäten nachhaltig zu fördern. SiROP stellt hierzu einem Partnernetzwerk aus renommierten Institutionen, dem SiROP ReSearch Network, exklusiv eine zentrale Internet-Plattform bereit.

The United Nation's International Year of Youth started on the International Day of Youth (August 12). "Students and youth in general are a crucial part of every community and deserve an investment into their personal learning paths to become active citizens. In particular, we hope to see better possibilities for people to move freely between education systems, in order to shift towards a real open-border Europe", says ESU Chairperson Bert Vandenkendelaere.

"In Europe, we need a stronger effort to improve the access to and quality of our higher education for the benefit of the future society. We hope that Youth on the Move can be the start of a bigger contribution, both political and financial, from all the European member states to that open-border education area", says Vandenkendelaere.

The European Commission will launch a communication with the Youth on the Move initiative on September 15. The communication will outline the main actions and strategies that will implement the EU 2020 Strategy in the youth and education area.

The Youth on the Move communication will deal with a wide list of interdependent policy questions that need to be tackled in order to advance according to the EU 2020 strategy and its benchmark targets. The main proposals involve developing the higher education system in Europe; increasing the mobility of students and youth and improving the employment perspectives of graduates and young people.

Am Mittwoch, 8. September 2010, stehen die "Sammlungen des Botanischen Gartens" auf dem Programm der von Michael Kiehn, dem Direktor des Botanischen Gartens, geleiteten Gartenführung. Über 11.000 Pflanzenarten aus allen Kontinenten wachsen im Botanischen Garten und stehen für die universitäre Forschung und Lehre zur Verfügung, viele davon können aber auch von den GartenbesucherInnen bewundert werden.
